Smug

Smug.

That is the word that got me to do it.

As you know, I am an American Idol watcher.  My favorites are Melinda and Blake.

Secretly (since I am sure that no one reads this blog) I am in love with Blake.  He always gives me goose bumps.  I think he’s new, fun, entertaining, and sexy.  I love the beatbox stuff.

and Melinda … well, Melinda is simply awesome.  Seriously amazing.  But she is due to be voted out because she is so awesome that her fans will take her for granted.  Which will mean that she will be banished to an untimely and unfortunate removal from the show.  Which will inevitably be because Sanjaya is still competing.  Which will lead me to stop watching all together.  So there you have it.

But back to the word “smug”.

I have been watching the show wondering why I hate Sanjaya so much.  Hate is a strong word.  So I retract it & say… strongly strongly dislike him.  He unfortunately is getting better with his singing (which isn’t saying much).  But he still bothers me – GREATLY.  Randy Jackson pretty much nailed why.   It’s because he is “smug”.

It’s that look he gives the camera.  The one that says: I don’t care how I sing, because I know I will still be here tomorrow.   And it’s the look he gives the judges.  The one that says: you can say anything you want, but I couldn’t care less and I am better than you.

For that reason, Sanjaya forced me to do something I wasn’t going to do.  VOTE.

I voted for Melinda & Blake FIVE TIMES.  Not five times total.  FIVE TIMES SEPARATELY.

the total being 10 … and it was well worth it.

and next week if Sanjaya is still there (which he will be), I plan on voting for every single contestant EXCEPT for him.  Multiple times.  Until my husband pries the phone from my body.
